Business meeting on the first Thursday of the month at 7:15 p.m.
and, social meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.

George Schulze Passes

East Kauai Y's Man Yʻs Men George Schulze passed away December 31st at Wilcox Hospital. George was a member of the East Kauai Y's Men's Club for 28 years and was the husband of Donna Schulze. He will greatly missed by all who knew him. Y's Men Hawaii Regional Director Phil Sammer sent this message of condolences:
"On behalf of the Y's men and women of the Hawai'i Region I would like to express our great sadness on the passing of George Schulze. George was a dedicated and enthusiastic Y'sman who will be remembered for his many contributions to the East Kaua'i club and to the Hawai'i Region. His ready smile and lively personality will be sorely missed. We also send our sincere condolences to Donna Schulze in this difficult time."



Donna Schulze Wins National Award

Donna Schulze, who celebrated 30 years of Y's Men's Service in 2006, was awarded the 2007 "Boots" Fabion award. Donna is the first woman to receive this prestigious award since its inception in 1981. The award is given every two years at the USA Area Convention to a full-time or retired YMCA professional in recognition of outstanding leadership, dedication and service to Y'sdom.

Below: In November of 2006, East Kauai Y's Men were on hand to celebrate the ceremonial check presentation by Lieutenant Governor "Duke" Aiona to YMCA Director Tom Tannery.  The state funds released by Governor Linda Lingle will aid in the construction of the Kauai Ohana YMCA.  The $3,297,000 grant-in-aid will include the islands first Olympic-sized (50-meter) swimming pool.
